As always, Charlene looks to Suzanne for help when she's down!
Charlene Introduces Suzanne...
My OLDEST girlfriend is Suzanne. (Suz is rolling her eyes as I have introduced her in this manner many times.) What I mean to say is that our friendship is the oldest. We go back to preschool when our houses in Batesville, AR, backed onto the same lane. Since Suzanne is just a few months older than I, she was allowed to start school a year before me. How vividly I remember our play place under my mother's dining table where Suzanne told me her first grader's version of "how babies are made."
Suzanne shares my passion for hiking in the Rockies. She comes on every High Adventure trip. I share her love of good food, and I eat everything she cooks! I have asked Suzanne to present a column on food. We both like cooking from scratch, though her scratch is more purist than mine. I once walked into her house to find her homemade pasta draped over bar stools; I'm willing to leave that first step to the Italians. And, one day I found her carefully slicing a big ham horizontally so she could layer the slices with a mushroom duxelle, then reassemble it!! Now that was some project. Suffice it to say, my friend knows how to cook!!!
Suzanne and I both have a pretty good palate, though she is far better at teasing out all of the ingredients in a dish. We LOVE the taste of wholesome food. Suzanne is the only "foodie" I know who is lean and fit enough to enjoy a physically active life. It is my pleasure to introduce you to my precious, lifelong friend Suzanne.
